Xin Msn Catch TV Singapore’s Most Popular Site

xinmsn tops off seven straight months of growth to become Singapore’s most popular site

Microsoft and MediaCorp's online portal hits highest number of unique users to date at 1.9 million unique users

Singapore – November 22 2010 – xinmsn, the online portal launched by Microsoft and MediaCorp, celebrated its seven-month anniversary as the leading and fastest growing online portal in Singapore.

Since its launch in April 2010, xinmsn’s channels have consistently ranked among the top lifestyle, entertainment, sports and video websites in Singapore – and as the xinmsn homepage leapfrogged its competitors to a leading position, xinmsn became the number one online portal in Singapore with 1.9 million unique visitors.

The portal's strong performance was indicated by the 70 million page views that it received in October -   an increase of 94 percent from March this year and 192 percent from the same time last year, when the MSN Singapore and xin.sg were operating independently.

xinmsn entertainment, video, lifestyle and sports at the forefront

Key to its success has been xinmsn's ability to deliver fresh and engaging entertainment, video, lifestyle, and sports content from both local and international news channels.

Xinmsn users had a chance to interact and preview exclusive content on popular events such as:

- Aaron Kwok's concert and the Star Awards where the xinmsn entertainment page witnessed a high level of traffic resulting from the local coverage

- FIFA World Cup 2010 - xinmsn's one-stop 2010 World Cup offering provided fans with all the latest World Cup 2010 news, up-to-minute updates and trivia about the tournament.  Users could get access to the latest news feeds and videos, dedicated World Cup photo galleries, match fixtures and updated team standings, reviews and statistics, as well as live score alerts and live Twitter feeds.

- Catch up TV of MediaCorp channels and Hollywood studios such as FOX and Disney - With the introduction of free video on demand, users who miss their favorite TV shows including the Amazing Race, Cougar Town and local Channel 8 dramas have been able to enjoy watching repeat episodes online for free.

"We launched xinmsn with the goal of being the leading online destination in Singapore.  We're delighted that in seven months, we've achieved that goal.  To be number one in entertainment, video, lifestyle and sport is the result of great content, excellent marketing and hard work by our very committed editorial and content teams. We are now Singapore's number one homepage, and the second most visited local news site in Singapore. This is an exceptional result and one that we intend to build on for both our audience and our advertisers." said Kerry McCabe, General Manager, Asia Pacific, Microsoft Advertising.

Added Joe Nguyen, Vice President Southeast Asia, ComScore, "Our data shows that xinmsn's user-base has been growing rapidly since its launch in April.  Not only are more people visiting xinmsn, but the ones visiting are spending more time on xinmsn's homepage and channels.  In October, users spent a daily average of 20 minutes on the portal, which is 23 percent more than the combined average times spent on msn.com.sg and xin.sg in March."
