n offshore earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale has struck Japan's Kanto region Wednesday amidst efforts to contain the threat of nuclear contamination from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant damaged in last Friday's massive quake, reports said.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake occurred at 12:52 p.m local time and was epicentered at a depth of 10 kilometers in the Pacific ocean off Chiba prefecture.

Several highrise buildings in the capital Tokyo swayed in the tremor. But no casualties or damage to property has been reported yet.

Authorities also did not put out any Tsunami warnings in the quake's aftermath. More details are awaited.

Tokyo: A strong 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck in the Pacific just off Chiba prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, with the force strong enough to sway buildings in Tokyo.

No tsunami warning was immediately issued but the agency warned of a possible change in sea levels.

Well, it did feel more like a 5.5, however it was apparently only a 4.9. No further news on damage or other at this moment.
