Cam Newton

Cam Newton is already hitting it big as he gets ready to become a pro.

CNBC reported on Monday that Under Armour has agreed to an endorsement contract with the Heisman Trophy winner that would be the biggest deal ever for an incoming NFL player.

The deal, CNBC reported, will be worth more than the $1 million per year contract Reggie Bush got from adidas in 2006.

The deal has not yet been formally announced, but Newton would mark the second big-name player to join Under Armour in recent months after Patriots QB Tom Brady.

Newton held a public workout last week in California. He is expected to be taken in April's NFL draft, although how high he might climb in the selection order is unknown.

Under Armour has a deal with Auburn, where Newton won a national title last season. So Newton was already well-connected to the Under Armour brand.

The deal with Under Armour indicates that -- at least at a business level -- there is confidence that Newton's skills will translate into the NFL.
